Infrared sauna
Infrared sauna cabins for older houses in Kota Bogor
A 45–60 °C cabin that runs on 2,200–4,400 VA — the answer for a heritage house with a small meter.
An infrared sauna heats the body directly with carbon panels at 45–60 °C rather than heating the air. It is built for one or two people and, at 1.7–2.4 kW, runs on an ordinary 2,200–4,400 VA supply. Indicative IDR 30–70 million installed, fitted in 1–2 days, with running costs of IDR 100,000–250,000 a month.

How does an infrared sauna work, and who needs one in Bogor?
Instead of raising the air to 80 °C, carbon panels emit long-wave radiation that warms skin and muscle directly. The cabin sits at 45–60 °C, which feels much gentler, and it is ready in 10–15 minutes rather than half an hour. Sessions run longer — 25 to 40 minutes is normal — and the sweat comes on slowly.
In Bogor the buyers are usually people the electricity has decided for. Colonial and 1970s houses around Sempur, Taman Kencana and Empang often sit on 2,200–4,400 VA with wiring that nobody wants to disturb. Older users and anyone who finds 90 °C uncomfortable also choose infrared, as do apartment owners in Kota Wisata where a heater upgrade would mean negotiating with a building manager.

Infrared sauna or dry sauna: which fits your house?
They do different jobs. A dry sauna gives you the full ritual — steam on the stones, hot air, the shock of cold afterwards — and it seats a family. An infrared sauna is quiet, personal and low-powered; the heat is deeper but the ceremony is smaller. If you want a social room where four people sit and talk, build the dry cabin. If you want twenty minutes to yourself after a run at Sentul, infrared is the better tool.
There is also a cost curve to consider. An infrared cabin at IDR 30–70 million is not always cheaper than a two-person dry cabin at IDR 55–70 million, but it avoids the PLN upgrade, avoids the ventilation work and can be installed in a day. Over five years, on a small meter, the arithmetic usually favours infrared.
Electricity and siting: is 2,200 VA really enough?
Yes, with care. A one-person cabin draws about 1.7 kW and a two-person cabin about 2.4 kW. On 2,200 VA that is workable if the air conditioning and the water pump are not running at the same moment; on 3,500–4,400 VA there is no tension at all. We still install a dedicated circuit with an ELCB rather than running an extension from the nearest socket, and we test the load with the rest of the house switched on.
Siting is easy compared with a dry sauna: no drain, no waterproofing, no chimney of hot air. The cabin needs a level floor, 10 cm of clearance behind, and somewhere out of direct rain. A spare bedroom, a landing or a covered terrace in Rancamaya all work.
Infrared sauna price in Bogor and how long it takes
An installed cabin for one or two people is an indicative IDR 30–70 million, depending on whether the shell is hemlock or red cedar and whether the panels are standard carbon or full spectrum. Installation is 1–2 days including the electrical run and a test session with you.
Running costs are the lowest of anything we build: IDR 100,000–250,000 a month for regular use, against IDR 200,000–500,000 for a dry sauna. Compare the whole range on the price page, or ask us to size a cabin for your room through the contact page.

Frequently asked questions
What does an infrared sauna cost to run each month in Bogor?
Around IDR 100,000–250,000 for three or four sessions a week. It is the cheapest heat we build, because 2 kW for forty minutes is less energy than 6 kW for ninety.
Do you sweat as much as in a dry sauna?
Differently. Sweating starts later and builds gradually, and most people find they last longer at 50 °C than at 85 °C. Total fluid loss over a full session is comparable.
Can I install one in a rented house and take it with me?
Yes — the cabin is bolted together and demounts cleanly. The only permanent element is the circuit, which we agree with the owner beforehand and which stays as a useful spare socket.
Will the timber cope with Bogor's humidity?
Hemlock and cedar both handle it, provided the cabin is not left in an unventilated room. Leave the door open between sessions and run the room fan occasionally; there is no steam in the cabin to begin with, which is half the battle here.
